Mica
Gasket
Item No.:ZD-2082
Description:In
many applications when oxygen is present and the temperature is over 850
F the ideal sealing material "Grafoil" or flexible graphite cannot be
used. Flexible graphite or "Grafoil" will coke at those elevated
temperatures when oxygen is present. An excellent alternative in many applications is mica. Some of the basics on mica are shown below. As a
gasket material mica can be very effective in sealing those high temp
critical applications with out failing due to the presence of oxygen.Mica
gaskets are laminates made from Mica impregnated with resin, stacked and
pressed at high temperature and pressure to achieve polymerisation.
Consists
of muscovite or phlogopite, mica sheet(paper) impregnated with specially
selected epoxy resin. It can be sawed, sheared and punched into intricate
shapes.Because of its superior uniformity, automatic feeding and
stacking are possible and high speed assembly operations.
Application of Mica Gasket:
-
Supports for heating
resistors (i.e. convectors).
-
Thermal insulation in circuit breakers and
between electronic components
-
In large thickness, as thermal insulators for
industries with large stress such as
iron and steel works, chemical, glass and petro-chemical
industries
-
Mechanical support and electrical insulator in
high voltage cabins
-
Replacements for asbestos panels in forging
machines and hydraulic presses
Specification:
Sheets: 1000 x 600mm and 1000 x 1200mm
Mica Gasket:Strips and cutting in shapes according to drawing
Thickness:0.3-2.0mm
Warning: Gasket materials should
never be recommended when both the
temperature and the pressure are at
the maximums listed. Properties and
applications shown are typical. No
application should be undertaken by
anyone without independent study and
evaluation for suitability. Never
use more than one gasket in one
flange joint, and never reuse a
gasket. Improper use or gasket
selection could cause property
damage and/or serious personal
injury. The data reported is a
compilation of field testing, field
service reports and/or in-house
testing. While the utmost care has
